Valentine’s Day Contest – Entry No. 10 – ‘Jab We Met’

Marriages are made in heaven, but we all need a little helping hand from family, friends and newspapers to help us find our right match.

Then all it takes is all it takes is the warmth of a sunny smile and a pleasing personality to do the trick!

Here’s a fun little story of how Shruti Sareen met her husband.

Ladies and gents, start voting right away. ’Like’ and ‘Share’ their love story on our official Facebook page and on our website to help them win.

Read Shruti’s Love Story here:

My mum had given an advertisement in a leading newspaper for the “right match” and had shortlisted several candidates from commercial pilots, engineers, economists, to doctors abroad but no one swayed me.

She was almost on the verge of a breakdown and was (probably) fed up as to what I wanted (a typical Punjabi family would be paranoid if they had a 24 year old Delhi girl yet to be married off).

Shravan and his parents were to come to meet me on this particular Sunday when I was to be away for an “office retreat” to Dalhousie. Since I had shown some interest in Shravan’s picture, my family implored me to cancel my trip as I would be tired to meet him but I shunned their thought.

Having promised to get some sleep on my way back from Dalhousie (so as to look fresh and vibrant) I returned to meet Shravan and his lovely parents that Sunday evening – the 4th of July, 2004.

Dressed in the most sober attire, this simple guy swept me away in our very first meeting and after a long tete- a-tete lasting 2 hours made me say a big YES. After 3 months of every day chats, emails, letters etc we tied the knot and continue to travel and take the road less travelled ..TOGETHER.!
