Smartphone manufacturer launched its flagship OnePlus 5 in India on 22nd June, 2017. The event was held in Mumbai at the NSCI (The National Sports Club of India) Dome at 2pm. This was one of the most anticipated smartphones of the year. This was a ticketed event that was exclusively open to OnePlus fans where the company gave away goodies for the flagship device as well.

OnePlus is a Chinese manufacturer founded in Dec 2013 by Pete Lau(CEO) and Car Pei. The company aims at providing high-end quality smartphones at affordable prices. Their first phone was launched in 2014 after which they have introduced 5 new versions of the phone, with OnePlus 5 being the sixth one. Their latest launch was OnePlus 3T in 2016.

Going by its tagline, “Never settle”, the OnePlus 5 has a better camera, technical specification, and operating system. The smartphone comes with Snapdragon 835 processor, 5.5-inch full HD resolution display. OnePlus 5 comes in two storage variants 6GB Ram/64GB memory and 8GB Ram/128GB memory. Taking a cue from Apple iPhone 7 plus, the smartphone sports dual camera, microphone, LED and antenna lines. The OnePlus 5 has a dual camera setup-16MP & 20MP at the rear. The camera also supports portrait mode, similar to iPhone 7 plus. The phone runs on Android Nougat 7.1.1OS with company’s oxygen OS. It has a bottom mounted mono speaker accompanied with USB type -C port and 35mm audio jack. The finger sensor is placed under the home button. It supports 34 global network bands and can be used across the globe. The device has 3300 mAh battery. Bluetooth V5.0 and Near Field Communication (NFC) chip.

Should you buy this phone?

This phone is for the people who want the best specifications on their phone. It is almost a future proof phone which will work for many many years presumably. If you want expandable storage, better display or you need wireless charging or water proofing then this phone is not for you. Being close to a stock android experience it is going to be incredible and fast, but it’s not really a value for money anymore. There are so many options in the market now for this price, be it Lg G6, Samsung Galaxy S8, iPhone 7 & 7 plus.

When spoken to one of the OnePlus fans at the event Raj Mehta he said, “He would definitely buy OnePlus 5 as it has great performance and has a portrait feature similar to iPhone 7 plus at a much cheaper price. It is definitely value for money.” We also spoke to a OnePlus 3T user, Shivani Ghosalkar, she said “The only difference would be the camera while the performance would be the similar so I would prefer to wait for their next launch”

OnePlus 5 is priced at INR 32,999 for 6GB Ram/64GB variant and INR 37,999 for 8GB Ram/128GB variant. The phone is available in two color options- Midnight Black and Slate Gray. The phone will be available exclusively on Amazon India and the OnePlus 5 official website.

As a op5 user this article has been relevantly described.
The oneplus 5 surely lives on its tagline of never settle with the price it offers, giving one of the best camera snapdragon’s flagship processor, 6/8gb of ram and 64/128 gb of storage.
