An erstwhile Portuguese armoury that got a facelift way back in December 1981 by Mr. Francisco Branco and his wife Veronica; Branco’s Bar and Restaurant is a charming old world family restaurant with a welcoming staff that is worth paying a visit during your next trip to Goa.

A Goan friend of ours had recommended this place when we were looking for a place for dinner right after a Concert in Choral Music in the vicinity. The moment she mentioned that [More...]

Recommended by Lonely Planet, The Rough Guide and the Footprints, Viva Panjim is a Goan family restaurant at Fontainhas. It may take you some time to trace this restaurant in the lanes of Fountainhas, but it’s worth the effort. With the delicious Goan food that is served hot on your table, you will forget the [More...]

As a tourist I should be going gaga about Cafe Mambo, but somehow my experience has not been very good. Since I’ve had heard so much about Mambo’s, I thought of giving it a try. My husband had already been to Mambo’s earlier and he was aware about the service, yet he let me form my opinion. [More...]

Just 5 minutes away from Viva Panjim, you can walk down to Horse Shoe in Fontainhas. Owned by Vasco, Horse Shoe is an Indo-Portuguese restaurant, that must feature in your trip to Goa. If you do pay Horse Shoe a visit, then don’t miss their mouth melting Chocolate Mousse and Sans Rival (made of cashew nuts, cream and eggs) and black coffee. We dropped by at Horse Shoe in the evening after our Heritage Walk in Panjim and the Chocolate Mousse, Sans [More...]

Calamari Beach Shack

You may not find this restaurant with ease. Its one of those tiny lanes in between houses that will take you to a barren beach spot; and there you will find Calamari a popular beach shack for international tourists. At first, we being the only Indians at the restaurant, weren’t too happily welcomed by the staff. They did not attend to our table for a very long time, but we were patient. We took out our books and started reading [More...]

A brilliant family restaurant, one of our personal favourites, for the only reason that the guys at Sweet Chilli  made us feel at home. In fact, this was the only restaurant that we came across that was more popular amongst the local crowd who like to celebrate anniversaries and birthdays at Sweet [More...]
